Maryland Solar Counties

Maryland Counties Served and Solar Permits

Trinity Solar services and installs solar power systems throughout most of the major population areas in Maryland.  Each county (or city, if applicable) is responsible for issuing and inspecting the quality of the installation work we perform.  We work with the local permitting authority to obtain the required solar permits to build on your property.  Normally, the permits we obtain are for the construction work (typically called a structural permit) and for the electrical work.

Trinity has licensed structural engineers and master electricians who review and stamp each drawing the permitting office requires for approval of the permit.  Trinity’s permitting staff designs the system and submits the permit applications through our team of permit runners who drop off and pick up permits when they are ready.

Some counties do not allow solar panels to be placed in certain areas of your roof.  This is called a setback requirement.  Baltimore and Harford Counties have the most restrictive setback requirements.  Regardless of these setbacks, solar installations are still allowed and some solar is always better than no solar.  We can always add more solar panels to your roof if setbacks are changed in the future.

Below is specific setback and permitting information about key counties.  Whether your county is listed or not, your Trinity Solar Consultant has the most up to date solar information about the county you live in.
