As soon as he was elected, Americans wanted to know what President Obama was going to do about climate change. After his last State of the Union address, they got their answer.
In his speech, the president detailed some of the key legislation that has moved the United States toward a cleaner future. Among the most important developments were tighter regulations around carbon emissions and the adoption of renewable energy sources.
Solar took the spotlight during the speech, as the president announced that every three weeks, the U.S. adds as much solar power as it did in all of 2008. This is a sign that, going forward, we can expect solar to play a major role in the energy generation mix.
