People are embracing clean energy options like solar power all across the nation, but some states are adopting the green alternative faster than others. Eco-friendly residents of the Northeast are sure to be especially proud of their region’s efforts in this arena.
To keep track of America’s progress, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy has been ranking the states annually. Now in its ninth year, the state scorecard for 2015 has revealed that states in the Northeast make up more than half the top ten solar adopters. With six states at the top, this region is becoming a leader in clean energy.
For the fifth year in a row, Massachusetts ranked number one. Vermont took the third spot, behind California, and Rhode Island stood at fourth place. Connecticut was ranked sixth, with Maryland jumping up to seventh place thanks to the state’s push for new energy saving goals for utilities. The Northeast’s presence in the top ten remained strong with New York ranking ninth.
